Everywhere, Always

Psalm 121:7 The Lord will keep your going out and coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Do you know God watches over all your comings and goings? Everywhere and always?

Traveling to Dallas and visiting the George W. Bush Presidential Library had long been on my bucket list. So my husband and I finally decided to just do it! We arranged our flights and secured a hotel within walking distance of the Library. Adventure was calling our name!

We landed at DFW Love Field Monday evening and realized the hotel did not provide a shuttle from the airport (as advertised on their website). There seemed to be no other option than to call an Uber. Did I mention we had no idea what we were doing? By the time we connected with our ride and tried to figure out how to proceed, I received an Uber late fee notification on my phone. My husband finally asked the driver, “Here’s cash. Can you just get us to the hotel?” As she dropped us off, my husband gave her a generous tip and prayed for her.

Gratitude for arriving at our destination was as tangible as Doubletree’s warm chocolate chip cookie waiting our check-in. We knew God was watching over us.

His watchfulness proved to be an awareness that stayed with us the whole trip. Like finding our way to and from the Bush Library, as we trekked through Southern Baptist University. And figuring out how to use the rail system to take us to downtown Dallas and visit the Sixth Floor Museum site of JFK’s assassination. My goodness, we even found warm Krispie Kreme donuts!

We planned to have the same Uber driver pick us up from our hotel and take us back to the airport for our Thursday morning flight home. As we turned into the DFW Love Field, I told her we needed to be dropped off at the American Airlines entrance. “What?” she responded. “We’re at the wrong place! We need to be at DFW.” Unbeknown to us, about a 30-minute drive separated DFW and DFW Love Field!  Had she dropped us off at Love Field, we would have been stuck, confused, and probably stranded in Dallas!

But God was watching over us. The God who never slumbers protects us and keeps us. He watches over us everywhere, always, and forevermore.
